I started getting calls from Schroeder & Associates last week about a debt I wasn't even sure was mine. The caller was pretty aggressive, talking about potential legal action and wage garnishment if I didn't pay up immediately. It really freaked me out.



I asked them to send me something in writing to validate the debt, and they got a bit defensive but said they would. From what I've been reading, they have offices in Oklahoma and California, so it seems like they operate in multiple states.



Has anyone else dealt with these guys? I'm trying to figure out if this is legitimate or if they're just using scare tactics. I know I have rights under the FDCPA, but I'm not sure what my next step should be. Should I just pay it to make them go away, or fight it?
